Odds and Ends, well actually more odd…
Here’s something you don’t see everyday. Last night hubby and I were at our local bookstore enjoying a fufu holiday coffee in the cafe. As we got ready to leave my husband leaned over to me and said “did you see the guy over there in the kilt?” As I turned to look he added “and he’s knitting.” I moved to the other side of the table and tried to position myself behind the person at the table next to me not because I wanted to stare at the kilt business but to try to get a good look at what he’s was knitting! After a few minutes of gawking, I decided that if he was going to sit in a coffee shop in a kilt and knit he probably wouldn’t mind some conversation. Turns out he was knitting up a hat for his younger brother in a great looking self striping yarn. He was about the most friendly person you could meet and held the yarn up for me to feel how stretchy it was. He said he thought since it was an acrylic yarn it would be fairly indestructible for his brother. I’m visualizing the scene on Christmas morning when the younger brother opens the gift from his older brother and finds a handknit hat. Something probably only us knitters can truly understand! Made my evening…that and buying the new issue of Spin-Off Magazine.
